DDR RAM Memory at Memory Deal, the truth about DDR modules

DDR (1) RAM Memory. What is ddr memory?

Double data rate SDRAM or better know as DDR SDRAM or now DDR 1. This was in short a very fast type of memory back in the day... About eight or nine years ago. DDR RAM memory was based on the same architecture as very old SDRAM but it made waves by doubling the date transfer rates, thus DOUBLE data rate or DDR. Pin options for DDR were commonly 184-PIN and 144-PIN with other variations of proprietary DDR ram modules. DDR RAM is visually differentiated from SDRAM in that SDRAM is a 168-pin DIMM with a double notch at the bottom along the pins one notch just off-center, the other offside. The 184-pin DDR SDRAM has a single off-center notch.

Inside information on the DDR ram module market and DDR chips

OK so you've got the DDR RAM memory definition now. Since its inception DDR now called ddr (1) has fallen into more prey to the symptoms of being in the technology field. So what once was cutting edge is now somewhat forgotten about. Samsung the worlds largest supplier of DRAM and memory modules produces less then 15% of DDR RAM now. So as the market has aged more players have come into the market. Brand names from companies that are not DRAM and memory module manufactures. They buy what is called eTT or uTT black top chips from suppliers in Taiwan. These chips are classified in to a few groups.

Genuine factory original modules use full spec, fully tested ddr chips and are using (PCB) printed circuit boards made by the DRAM OEMs. The only choice DDR ram memory Memory Deal provides to customers.

Third party DDR memory modules have full spec ddr sdram chips made by DRAM suppliers but are made on third party PCB. These can be ok but designs are generally based on cost and only a few have achieved total success like Kingston. Yet even they have not been allowed to participate on teir one AVL or bill of material lists from computer OEMs like Apple and HP. Thus, you will not see a third part module in your new MacBook Pro from Apple.

eTT chips DDR SDRAM components that have not been fully tested so are not considered a true full ddr specification. They come from DRAM foundries in Taiwain like Mira and PowerChip. These companies are driven on selling volume and keeping costs low. They move or sell chips to companies like PNY and Centon. These companies in turn pay less, mark their logo or brand on the black DRAM component and assume the risk by testing the ddr module. These modules have never faired well in markets where extreme mission critical applications depended on the memory. The RMA rates are much higher and folks can have issues with their computers and not even understand why.

uTT are UNTESTED CHIPS. DRAM makers have fall out or issues that arise during the ddr manufacturing process but with the chips or components being assests they sell them as half good, uTT or other savy ways to recover investments. Many of these ddr ram memory modules make there way to third world countries and some of the better ones are still among the online and retail markets. They DDR chips are volatile and many if not most time simply do not work. Or if bought in sets of 100 or more can yield RMA rates that are simply unacceptable.
