Video on installing FBDIMM memory modules in an Apple Mac Pro

Chris Parillo installing RAM for his new Mac Pro. I've already done the great unboxing of my new Mac Pro. Now, let's take a look at installing some more RAM into Big Mac. Yes... I named the Mac Pro. Yes... it really IS named Big Mac.

Chris Parillo shows the ease of the memory installation with the riser cards in this video. The bulky FBDIMM PC2-6400 modules snap in and with no sweat and with perfect intuitive design. He wants to shed a tear with those 16GBs of memory in his Apple Mac Pro he calls "Big Mac"

All Mac Pro Apple computers use:
  • DDR2 ECC fully buffered DIMM (FB-DIMM) memory
  • Eight FBDIMM slots on two memory riser cards (four slots per card) supporting up to 32GB of main memory
  • 256-bit-wide memory architecture

You have installation options for the ram in two speeds:

DDR2-667 PC2-5300 or DDR2-800 PC2-6400 memory

All use 240-PIN PC2-6400 CL6 Fully Buffered ECC DDR2-800 FBDIMM memory modules.

  • MB194G/A the 8GB or 2x4GB DDR2-800 PC2-6400 memory module kit
  • MB193G/A the 4GB or 2x2GB DDR2-800 PC2-6400 memory module kit
  • MB192G/A the 2GB or 2x1GB DDR2-800 PC2-6400 memory module kit

All use 240-PIN PC2-5300 Fully Buffered ECC DDR2-667 FBDIMM memory modules.

  • MA987G/A the 4GB or 2x2GB DDR2-667 PC2-5300 memory module kit
  • MA986G/A the 2GB or 2x1GB DDR2-667 PC2-5300 memory module kit
  • MA985G/A the 1GB or 2x512MB DDR2-667 PC2-5300 memory module kit
